Accomplishments

  • The BCID has recently applied for $2 million in federal funds to improve freight transportation challenges on the FIB corridor.
  • The Fulton Industrial Master Plan was recently completed (and can be viewed on our website at www.boulevardcid.org).  This vision includes considerable transportation and freight improvements, changes in land use that will bring more and better restaurants, retail, and other uses to the corridor.   And the completion of the Master Plan itself now makes the district eligible to compete for millions of dollars each year to make the vision reality.
  • The presence and commitment of the BCID to the market influenced Fulton County to relocate numerous services and staff to new offices on the FIB.  Moreover, with the formation of new cities in other parts of Fulton, the FIB has become more important to Fulton County’s tax coffers, and is getting more attention as a result.  The BCID is leveraging that reality every day.
  • Crime prevention is now about more than additional patrols.  Through a partnership with the BCID, Fulton County has located a Community Court on the FIB – so the police can arrest, book, and process transgressions in hours – a strong incentive for criminals to go elsewhere.  And the No Trespassing signage program is having a similar effect, leveraging the value of police presence substantially.
  • The BCID’s efforts have also brought in $350,000 to purchase security cameras that will leverage the existing work of the police and make them more effective.  We have also secured $1.3 million for transportation improvements, that you will begin to see on the FIB soon.
  • Designation of an Opportunity Zone for a portion of the FIB corridor, allowing businesses in the designated area to qualify for tax incentives for job creation
  • FIB Redevelopment Framework adopted by Fulton County BOC that will create a strategic plan of action and will be a catalyst for change and reinvestment in the area.
  • Re-location of several Fulton County departments to FIB corridor to be part of the solution in revitalizing the area.  Departments  include: Environment & Community Development, Public Works Transportation, Police and Fire as well as offices for Fulton County Commission Districts 5 & 7
  • Receipt of stimulus bonds for FIB area economic development initiatives to include: $350K for purchase and installation of surveillance cameras and $1.3M for transportation improvements including signal upgrades and intersections improvements
  • Enhanced Landscape Maintenance Program made possible through a joint agreement with the Fulton County Public Works Department and the Georgia Department of Transportation as well as regular FIB litter pickup
  • Passage of Georgia HB Bill 549 that provides for additional power within each CID to be involved in public safety initiatives.
  • Plans for new ROW, Mowing & Maintenance Agreement with Fulton County & GDOT
